Lisa Books-Williams

Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CRTS)

Hi, my name is Lisa Books-Williams and I’m proud to be a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CRTS). I earned my MS degree in 2005 but I’ve been working with persons with varying levels of disabilities since the 1990s. My specialty is in all disorders of the brain, including intellectual disabilities, spectrum disorders, mental illness, PTSD, acquired brain injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. I also specialize in working with clients with behavioral issues, as well as persons with dementia, Parkinson’s, strokes, cerebral palsy and more. I believe in a holistic full-circle approach for client / patient care. I’m proud to have developed community and corporate team building programs as well as creating, implementing and facilitating therapeutic culinary programs for Kaiser Permanente and the Veterans Administration.

I address and assess all the domains of well-being, including physical, social, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and vocational. I believe that everyone is capable of feeling the benefits of therapeutic recreation. No matter how advanced their disabilities are. I treat everyone that I work with as an individual as opposed to the traditional cookie cutter approach.
